Tarishi M.I.D.N.I.G.H.T. Shuler
Tarishi Shuler is a poet who goes by the name M.I.D.N.I.G.H.T. His pseudonym is an acronym which stands for Messiah Is Dominant Now Inspired GOD Helps Tarishi. Tarishi being his birth name is Swahili for messenger. He was raised by the three most important women in his life, his Great Grandmother, Grandmother and Mother. These three women were the ones that shaped him into the person he is today. Having all of these ingredients and most importantly the main element in his life GOD has brought M.I.D.N.I.G.H.T. to this junction on his journey.
Tarishi Shuler is a native of New Haven, CT. He has performed and won various poetry slams across the country. Places such as the Nuyorican Poets Café, The Inspired Word, Bar 13 in New York City, The Lizard Lounge in Boston, MA, Five Seasons Café in Baltimore, MD, The Bushnell Theater in Hartford, CT, the Nuyorican Cafe in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico and many more.
Tarishi is an artist that has performed and won various poetry competitions across the country. He recently won 1st place at The Martin Luther King Jr. Family Festival of Environmental and Social Justice / Zannette Lewis Invitational Poetry Slam at the Yale Peabody Museum in 2016,
Tarishi has opened at many prestigious events and very established well known artists and individuals.
In 2016 he opened for Saul Williams at Wesleyan University
In 2012 he opened for President Bill Clinton at the Madison Ballroom in Time Square for Love146 10th Anniversary,
He has won first place at the McDonald's McCafe Poetry Slam in NY for 2010, 2012, 2013 & 2016
In 2016 he performed at Hot97 New York for the 9/11 Dairies. A tribute for 15th anniversary of 9/11.
He has won the title of CT Grandslam Champion in 2011, 2012 & 2016,
He was the 2015 - 2016 Slammaster of the CT National Poetry Slam Team Verbal Slap,
He has been competing on a national level at the National Poetry Slam each year since 2011 - 2016
He competed in the 2016 Individual World Poetry Slam in Flagstaff, Arizona. He is currently rank 36 in the world out of 96 poets in the competition
He is a finalist for the title 2017 Nuyorican Grandslam Champion. The Nuyorican Poets Café located in New York City, NY is the oldest poetry venue in the county.
